I’m Michelle, the heart behind River of the Mind Therapy. I support women, adolescents, and clients from CALD backgrounds as they navigate identity, self-image, relationships, and life’s challenges.
My approach is warm, honest, and grounded in trust. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space to explore emotions, build self-understanding, and develop practical strategies for greater regulation, confidence, and connection.
Based in Melbourne, I’m especially passionate about supporting teens, adolescents, and women across all stages of life, helping clients navigate complex developmental and cultural transitions with insight, resilience, and care.
Special interests: identity and belonging, emotional regulation, eating and body image, adolescent wellbeing, and creative therapy approaches.

I provide a compassionate and supportive space to explore the emotional, psychological, and behavioural factors that contribute to disordered eating. With personalised guidance, you’ll be supported in building a healthier relationship with food, your body, and yourself. I work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach and, where needed, will refer to specialised health professionals such as GPs, dietitians, or psychiatrists to ensure you receive safe, holistic, and ethical care. Together, we’ll move toward healing, self-acceptance, and sustainable recovery.
Mindfulness invites us to turn inward, to explore the layers of our inner world with curiosity and compassion. In doing so, we begin to see ourselves more clearly and cultivate a deeper sense of presence and peace. With gentle guidance and practical techniques, you can learn to ease stress and anxiety while nurturing a way of being that aligns with balance, clarity, and wellbeing.
Identity for adolescents is such an important and transitional time, by providing a supportive and affirming space for young people navigating questions around personal identity, including gender, sexuality, culture, and self-concept. Trained to work with adolescents through this critical stage of development, using evidence-based approaches to foster self-understanding, resilience, and emotional well-being. Helping teens and adolescents explore who they are in a nonjudgmental environment, address any associated mental health concerns such as anxiety or depression, and support them in building a strong and authentic sense of self.
Stress and anxiety are a natural part of life, but at times they can feel overwhelming. Having a supportive, safe space to reflect can make it easier to understand what’s happening beneath the surface and begin to find ways forward. This space is here to help you make sense of your experiences and discover practical strategies for coping with life’s challenges.
Together, we’ll focus on strengthening your resilience, deepening self-awareness, and recognising the resources you already hold. Along the way, you’ll gain tools to approach stress and anxiety with greater clarity and confidence, so you can move through life with more steadiness and calm.
I offer a supportive space to help you realise your potential and create a more fulfilling life. Together, we’ll uncover your strengths, move past obstacles, and build self-awareness. With a personalised approach, you’ll develop resilience, set meaningful goals, and move toward greater confidence, clarity, and purpose—empowered to live more authentically.
Counselling is a form of talk therapy, where the process involves an individual (the client) and the therapist to share and discuss problems they are experiencing. This can include but not limited to, grief, anxiety, depression, relationship, and self-identity. The purpose of counselling is to support the individual navigate their thoughts, feelings and behaviours in order to promote resilience and well-being.
Session fees vary for first-time appointments and ongoing sessions. If you’re experiencing financial hardship or hold a Health Care Card (HCC), low-cost sessions may be available—please get in touch to discuss what might work for you.
At this time, I do not accept Mental Health Care Plans (MHCP) and am unable to provide Medicare rebates. This allows me to offer flexible, personalised support without the constraints of a funding scheme. I’m happy to discuss options for making counselling accessible and affordable for you.
While sessions between client and therapist remain within the counselling space. It is my duty of care which aligns with my code of practice. As part of my professional practice, I am require to keep brief notes between sessions . This is only for my professional development in which I share in supervision, however, all costs are ensure to de-identify clients.
Yes, absolutely. I offer telehealth sessions via a secure and confidential video platform, so you can access support from the comfort and privacy of your own space. Whether you're local or based elsewhere in Australia, telehealth is a flexible and convenient option.
Many clients find online sessions just as effective as in-person support. I’ll work with you to ensure the experience feels comfortable, personal, and tailored to your needs.
If you're unsure whether telehealth is right for you, feel free to reach out—I'm happy to talk through any questions or concerns.
Cancellations for sessions must be notified as soon as possible. 48 hours notice is required, otherwise a full payment will be charged without notice, or in exceptional circumstances. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me immediately.
I’d love to welcome you in person. Book an appointment to take the next step on your journey.
The practice is shared with other healthcare professionals and offers a warm, holistic, and inviting environment.
